Sandy goes above and beyond for her patients. I will never forget when one night when she really went out of her way to care for her patient. She had a very busy list and had just received a new admit. This admit was a very nice man who arrived to our unit and had missed the opportunity to get a dinner tray. He had not eaten all day and Sandy tried calling nutrition multiple times to get food but they had already closed. The patient then asked if he could go to the cafeteria to buy food but he then realized he had no money. Sandy then offered to take him downstairs and have him wait outside the cafeteria while she let him know what food was available and she bought his food for him. They both came back to the unit with great big smiles and had such a connection after that. He trusted her and was so overwhelmed with her kindness. He came to me and told me he had never had a nurse as kind, warm, and compassionate as Sandy and he had quite an extensive medical history so he had many nurses before her. Sandy didn't make any fuss about what she did and went right back to caring for her patients and completing her tasks for the night. She is an exceptional nurse who always puts her patients first.
