Sapphire was nominated by her manager after she received a letter from the daughter of a patient who had passed away. The patient was discharged to home with a plan to arrange hospice care when she was settled at home. Sapphire advocated for the patient and her family about keeping her in the hospital until the next day when everything could be arranged. The daughter agreed and her mother passed away that evening. The daughter wrote in a letter to Sapphire
"I just want to thank you and I am glad that I listened to you. If I would have brought her home, I would have blamed myself. My mom spoke very highly of you. Thank you for your excellent care of my mom."
