Sara always goes above and beyond to ensure our patients receive quality care. She also ensures that each bedside nurse has the tools to provide the best care.
Sara is such an amazing educator. She is not only an amazing educator but an amazing nurse and mentor as well. As I think back on all the teachable moments that Sara has taken advantage of, it makes me proud to call her one of my members as I am on my nursing school journey.
One day in the NICU, we were short-staffed with a pre-term STAT section. Sara had just finished teaching, she heard the alert and immediately assisted with the delivery. That is nothing new for Sara, she never hesitates to help when needed. Another moment that was bittersweet was Sara prepping a deceased infant whose family wanted to hold them for the last time.
On another particular shift, the unit was very busy on the floor helping admit a micro-preemie and tie up loose ends on our other patients past 7:00 pm. She did this without hesitation and, of course, with a smile on her face. Even after this, Sara was able to continue to assist the nurse manager with policies and binders that help our NICU run so smoothly.
Sara always goes above and beyond to ensure our patients receive quality care. She also ensures that each bedside nurse has the tools to provide the best care. She does this by checking in on the unit making herself available to address concerns and guide us when we had questions or concerns.
As a “newer” NICU nurse, new to the hospital I am always appreciative of Sara’s guidance. I truly feel supported with her as my educator. She finds fun ways to educate us on the floor and keep us up to date on way to best support our patients.
Sara thank you for all you do as an educator. Your work does not go unnoticed. You are truly an Extraordinary Nurse Educator.
I feel her hard work and dedication to our NICU deserve recognition.
