Sara exceeded Providence Health's core values by going above and beyond the call of duty while providing care for a recent patient from out of the country. Not only did she provide the utmost compassionate care while he was a patient, she also collaborated with our case management/social work team to ensure he had a safe place to live once discharged.
Since the patient is from out of the country, he has no local family unit system. Respecting his delicate situation, Sara has devoted numerous hours off the clock ensuring the patient has a successful recovery. She worked with the social worker to find the patient an apartment with access to a public bus line. She worked with her church to furnish the apartment, stock the pantry, and provided assistance for his initial utility bills. Upon discharge she has gone through unprecedented measures to ensure comfort in his new home. She has also assisted him in taking him to his follow-up appointments and remains watchful during his post-surgical recovery. She has gone above and beyond the call of duty to demonstrate compassion and respect to this patient. She has given of her time, talent, resources and collaborated with others to meet the needs of this patient. She is an inspiration to all!
