Sarah is kind and gentle and she genuinely cares for my daughter. Not only is she professional, but she always talks to my daughter like a friend. She never makes her feel that she is bothering her, even though she may be busy. Her smile and her personality are genuine. My daughter feels safe and comfortable with Sarah, and truly, I also feel the same as her mother. She always checks on my daughter to see that she is okay. She is more than a nurse. It is more than a job to her. I often see tears of joy or sadness for my daughter in Sarah's eyes. I know whoever fills my daughter's bed when we leave will be very fortunate to have Sarah as an angel by their side and always making sure they are safe and warm.
We will miss you, Sarah, because you are more than a nurse to us. Thank you so much for taking such good care of my daughter.

Sarah not only makes her patients feel like they are the only one she is caring for, she also treats them like family or a friend. I know for a fact that she cared for one patient who had been here for over 160 days. Throughout most of her hospitalization, Sarah has had this patient on her assignment. There have been many days that I'm sure have been frustrating and trying to say the least. This patient's mother is here pretty much 24/7 which I know can be very demanding, but as a mother, I'm sure that she feels the need to advocate for her daughter who presently is unable to communicate herself. This mother has shared with me that she feels 100% comfort when Sarah is her daughter's nurse.
I learned yesterday that Sarah brought a beautiful necklace for this patient to give to her precious, devoted mother. When I complimented her on this random act of kindness, she simply said, "Well [the patient] can't talk, much less order something herself for her mom, it was the least I could do for her." This mother was ecstatic to share the necklace with me and the story of Sarah, "her angel."
Sarah truly was an angel for these two women on Christmas, strengthening the bond of a mother and daughter during one of the toughest fights of their lives.
