Sarah is the most selfless person, always giving her time and attention to doing things for other people both while at work and outside of work.
Sarah treats everyone with respect and gives her time even when it would be easier to hurry or rush. She frequently assists her peers and is flexible with scheduling to accommodate the needs of others. Even if she has a stack of work at her desk, she makes sure patients and ED staff receive exceptional service before returning to the office. And she does all of this with a smile on her face. I often receive complements form ED, radiology, blood bank on how much they enjoy working with Sarah.
Sarah intervened to improve a patient experience. I was told by the rounding providers, that one of their patients was transferred to a room with dried blood on the wall and cabinets and became very upset. The patient and family reported to the rounding service that Sarah stayed until 10 pm, after clocking out from her work shift which ended at 7 pm. She helped to ease their anxiety, educate them and clarify the plan of care, coordinate the room being cleaned and even helped clean the room by wiping things down herself. Dr. S shared with me that the family went from wanting to be transferred out of JPS to having a pro-JPS mentality.
Sarah had no prior relationship with the patient but was alerted to the situation from a mutual friend shared with the patient.
Sarah is humble and did not tell anyone about her experience. When I thanked Sarah for representing JPS in a positive manner, turning around a potentially negative situation, continually embodying the mission of JPS and giving her time and energy for the benefit of others, she responded, "Thank you for your kind words. I know we are all very proud of where we work and want patients to feel that they've received excellent care at JPS. I was very impressed with the manager and team leader on Tower 5, they were excellent!" Thank you, Sarah, for your generosity and service to JPS.
