Sarah worked all night, and the patient I took over for her was a shift change c-section. Sarah offered so much help to ensure the patient was cared for. She initially offered to get the patient's support person from the waiting room, but when they were not willing to come back, I asked the patient if there was anyone who would be able to go back to the OR with her; she stated, "Only God." When I mentioned this to Sarah, she offered to clock out and remain with the patient as her support person. The patient was so very thankful, and so was I. She stayed until after the baby was born and ensured the patient felt safe and comfortable. She helped the patient hold her baby in the OR before she left. She displayed the true heart of a nurse and went above and beyond to ensure our patient felt safe and loved. I am so grateful for her actions; especially on such a hectic busy morning!
