Sarah was worried Mom’s hair would be tangled, so she brushed and braided it several times. She made Mom feel safe, seen, heard, and human during a challenging week.
Sara has been incredible, and I can’t choose just one memory from the past week. She has been so kind, caring, thoughtful, compassionate, and personable. This week has been frightening, but Sarah helped ease our minds every step of the way.
Sarah was worried Mom’s hair would be tangled, so she brushed and braided it several times. She made Mom feel safe, seen, heard, and human during a challenging week. We all bonded over our love for our pets, shared photos and memories, and sang plenty of country music together.
The hospital, especially the ICU, can be intimidating, filled with people in a rush, and it can feel cold and lonely. For the several days that Sarah was our nurse, she was a ray of light for our family. She arrived with a smile, answered every question with patience and compassion, and never made us feel like a burden. The day they took the ventilator out, some of Mom’s first words were “Call Sarah!”. We got Sarah on the phone, and you could hear her tears of joy. She was as excited as we were; she came in to give hugs and shared more tears.
After the week we all had, Sarah feels like part of the family. We could not be more grateful for her and the team at Rex. Sarah is so special to us. She is one of the good ones.
