We had a little boy named who had to get an NG tube and was so traumatized by the whole situation, but Sarah was determined to diminish his fears about coming into the office.
Sarah works closely with our Allergist here in Santa Monica, and she sees her fair share of patients each and every day. This nomination is not just for her outstanding work with one singular patient but for her tireless efforts to provide the very best care for all the little ones who walk into our clinic scared and not feeling their best. Sarah can be seen entering patient rooms where the most vulnerable of our patients are in for an absolute treat. She speaks to children in a calm, nurturing, and loving tone that puts them at ease. The engaging dialogue, playful nature of Sarah's approach, and overall compassionate care that she provides for these little ones are admirable at least and inspiring to most. Nothing warms my heart over more than when I see patients leaving and say "Hi" and "Thank you" to Sarah on their way out. But that's who Sarah is: someone who cares deeply about her patients, her coworkers, and people at large. She'll drop whatever she is doing in order to help others regardless of the impact it may have on her already large workload.
CHLA is fortunate to have Sarah on staff, and we here at the Santa Monica ACC would be lost without the heart and soul of our clinic. Personally, Sarah has helped me deal with a few different incidents where she was able to remind me that kind people really do exist and that having the right people in the right places can make a difference in someone's life. Like our kiddos, I'll forever be grateful for everything she has done for me and our clinic to make it a place of healing. There just aren't enough words to express how great of a nurse she is.

We have several patients not only in allergy, which is Sarah's specialty but in GI and all of our clinics for which Sarah goes above and beyond. She puts aside special toys for the children and saves them for them according to their interests. Sarah's love for children makes her a natural when they come in and they are all excited to see her.
We had a little boy named who had to get an NG tube and was so traumatized by the whole situation, but Sarah was determined to diminish his fears about coming into the office. She worked closely with his family, saved dinosaurs for him (his favorite thing ever) when he came in, and now runs into the office excited, asking for "Nurse Sarah"! She is so knowledgeable, looks at every patient as a specific case with specific needs, and goes out of her way to meet them all. Sarah has also stepped up and helped in all areas when we have been short on MAs doing things not required of her at all. She goes out of her way to make our office run as smoothly as possible. She also supports us by always lending an ear when we need it and makes everyone little treats on holidays. She is exceptional, and we are so lucky to have her.
