I have seen Sarah get some of the most complicated patients with the most life threatening situations. Sarah seems to be an RN who always seems to get the same patients every time she works. If I were Sarah I would become extremely frustrated and overwhelmed with the same patients, but she does not. She has one of the most positive "go get em" attitudes I have ever seen. Sarah is always so compassionate to the patients and the families she works with. She really has a way of putting the patients and their families at ease and she does it gracefully with a smile always on her face.
Not only does Sarah care for her own patients, but she helps care for her fellow RN staff's patients as well. Whenever patients are admitted to the NSICU (which can be up to 5 times a day) Sarah is always the first one to get up and offer a helping hand to her peers. Sarah goes above and beyond her call of duty. As a floor social worker I have no idea what it's like to be a nurse, but Sarah's actions and caring nature motivate me daily to be the best that I can be.
Today Sarah sat down next to me and said "how are you doing, I know you have not been feeling well, is there anything I can do for you?" To me that showed someone who genuinely cares about my personal wellbeing, and I know she is the same way with her patients on a daily basis.
