My sister told me that Sarah did not leave her side; held her hand, provided comfort, and reassured her during such a terrifying time.
I wanted to reach out to you in regards to the care your ER staff provided to my sister. She presented to the ER barely able to make inside to the check in area and only able to voice that she needed a nurse before collapsing to the floor. From what I was told, Sarah quickly came to her side with confidence and compassion (which is sadly hard to find these days). My sister was trying to tell her about her condition and that she was in emergent need of her epinephrine injection which she quickly administered.
Dr. V presented during this event and calmly led her care. They were able to get her onto a gurney and back into an ER room where my sister was able to show them her medical bracelet and plan of care instructions if she was ever to present to an ER. My sister suffers from Systemic Mastocytosis, a rare mast cell disorder that has many complications including anaphylactic reactions. My sister was able to tell me that Dr. V administered the recommended medication protocols very quickly while one of your nurses called me to inform me that she was present in the ER and was stable.
My sister told me that Sarah did not leave her side; held her hand, provided comfort, and reassured her during such a terrifying time. Upon my arrival, my sister was able to tell me the events leading up to me being notified and how great your staff was. Her nurse, Sarah, soon entered the room to check on her, she was very attentive and informative with both my sister and I. Sarah explained to me that my sister had given her a play-by-play account of what was going to happen to her during this reaction, which she said was spot on as if Morgan Freeman was narrating the situation in real time. She reported she had never had a patient do that before with a smile on her face, which helped to lighten the mood a bit. I could see the caring nature that she would have provided to my sister and immediately felt some relief.
Most healthcare professionals and community members only hear about the complaints and perceived disappointments in healthcare services, I doubt your staff receives the pat on the backs or sincere thank you’s they deserve. So, for that I am reaching out to you to please share my deepest appreciation, there truly aren’t any words to express my gratitude. Your ER staff needs to be recognized for their quick, compassionate, confident, and exceptional level of care they provided my sister as well as all of their other patients. My sister, who has seen innumerable amount of physicians, specialists, and healthcare professionals, has never expressed such confidence or compassion in her healthcare team and for that I am forever grateful to your staff and hospital.
