She truly is a magnificent leader and an even better change agent. She is fair and helps lead younger nurses, like me, towards advocacy, creativity, and evidence-based practice.
Sarah Johnson is everything I look to be as a nurse, and I hope one day I am at least half of the nurse that she is. I know that on any given day, I can count on her for her help, compassion, and leadership. I have frequently gone to SJ with questions or concerns regarding workflow, processes, ethical issues, or patient care concerns. She always listens and always offers to help find a solution. She truly is a magnificent leader and an even better change agent. She is fair and helps lead younger nurses, like me, towards advocacy, creativity, and evidence-based practice. One example where SJ has improved patient outcomes and increased quality of patient care is a weekend this past summer with one of our STEMI patients. I had gotten called in on the weekend and was the first person in the lab. All equipment was turned on, medications were prepped, and SBAR was ready and printed for me to read. SJ had done all of this for us in preparation of getting this patient to the Cath Lab quicker. In turn, this improved our door to balloon time and truly enhanced the quality of care that this patient had received. I am truly thankful for Sarah’s dedication and willingness to learn, even in areas where she may not have worked before. Thanks for all you do SJ! You are appreciated by all the nursing staff!!”

Sarah is a phenomenal nurse leader. She regularly checks in on all departments, including the ancillaries. She is dedicated to patient care and extremely knowledgeable. Sarah is always willing to answer a question or offer advice when needed. You can often find her power walking down a hallway onto her next mission or down in the ER assisting or even picking up a patient meal tray from the cafeteria. She demonstrates teamwork daily and is a great asset to NNRH.

I have lost track of the number of times that SJ has been such an incredible house supervisor, resource, and overall amazing person. When emergencies arise, SJ is right there to help. She doesn’t stand at the sideline, waiting to be asked for things. She is in the thick of the problem, helping start IVs, helping draw blood, making necessary calls, and getting supplies. As a new nurse, it helps so much to have such a great role model there to give advice. She is always willing to give a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. Every shift that I have with her as a house supervisor is so much better because I know that if something happens, I’ll have support. Thank you, SJ, for all you do, please know that it is so appreciated.
