Scott was my first nurse when I was checking in to be induced the day before I gave birth. Previous to giving birth I had never spent the night in a hospital, had surgery, or any other procedures other than stitches once when I was a child. All of this was new to me and Scott was very patient and kind to me and took the time to explain everything that was going to happen and what I would most likely feel.
I am a very private person and not used to having a lot of people in my space and touching me all of the time. Scott seemed to sense this and was very respectful of my space and always checked in with me before he checked my vitals or my temperature. He tried his best to make me and my husband as comfortable as possible during that first night and although I didn't get much sleep it was better because he put forth the effort to make it so.
Scott was also my nurse the night before we were released, and I was so happy to see him again. Seeing him was seeing a friendly face again after a traumatic event. He knew my labor was not an easy one and he checked in with me to make sure I was alright and listened to me explain things from my point of view. He was there when we were both exhausted and he let us go get some much-needed sleep by taking the baby. He made our experience better and after 2 months I am still grateful that he was our nurse and he was part of bringing our baby girl into the world.
