September remained calm and answered all of her questions—even if it was the same one over and over.
My granddaughter needed to be hospitalized to receive IV antibiotics and to monitor a large ovarian cyst. She is just 16 years old and suffers from severe anxiety. She gets very anxious and asks a thousand questions about what is happening. September introduced herself when she came into the room and explained to K what was going to happen while she was there. She had to, of course, start an IV. K kept asking her one question after the other, while she was doing that. September remained calm and answered all of her questions—even if it was the same one over and over. She told K step by step what she was doing and why. When it was time for shift change, September and the new nurse came in together. September explained K's anxiety right in front of K because one of K's worries is, "Will you tell the next nurse how we did the medicine so it didn't hurt?" September’s overall calm attitude and willingness to explain repeatedly and so calmly —to this scared child— was wonderful. She is a great asset to FHN.
