I would like to thank my colleague Ms. Shahad Gindwan from Surgery floor for her dedication to our floor patients' care, a strong commitment to her work, and being a strong patient advocate.
Shahad has been my colleague for more than 3 years. She is very dedicated to patient care and supporting our colleagues on the floor. She treats our patients with dignity and compassion. I have witnessed her on many occasions helping and caring for many concerned patients as a very special person.
She is very professional and a true patient advocate. On many occasions, she was quarreling with physicians to ensure the best care is provided to the patients. Last week, she was arguing with a doctor who left the patient with uncontrolled blood pressure and inadequate pain management. She contacted an internal medicine physician and consulted him. He was very kind and cooperative to come and examine the patient then prescribed an adequate pain medication for him. I was very surprised how she insisted to help the patient and didn't go home when her shift finished until the patient felt pain-free and comfortable.
Shahad is our team building task force leader in which she has arranged many activities that made us much closer to each other. Also, she is always making sure that our floor nurses are recognized and their achievements are celebrated. She is a member of many other task forces and unit PI Projects. Moreover, when our Nurse Clinician is on leave, she covers her role and we can see that she is very competent and talented as if she was working as a clinician for a long time.
She is an excellent example of how professional, competent and compassionate nurses should be.
