Over the past 2 years, I have watched Shandi and I am amazed at the clinical skill and compassion to staff, patients, and families that she exhibits every day. Day in and day out, Shandi is the glue that holds an amazing staff of skilled RNs together to form the core of our Special Delivery Unit. When early morning crisis occurs, Shandi comes in early and when delivery is a little delayed, she stays for that too. She has keen assessment skills and is a cool responder to emergencies. Each patient on her list gets special attention and if someone is delinquent in their prenatal care, she will track them down and sweet talk them into coming in for a check. She is well-respected by peers and providers and her skill and dedication are apparent in all of her work wherever she happens to be.

I want to recognize Shandi for her willingness to cross train to the challenging world of Case Management. I really enjoyed being her preceptor and getting to know her better. Shandi really embraced the training and proved to be a quick study. As a result, we now have enhanced Case Management coverage at RH. Shandi is truly a team player and has willingly helped me out on days of high census, as well as, covered for me during vacations, etc.
