Shannan LaFave has worked tirelessly as the nurse supervisor at the BMG Hematology Oncology center in Dearborn. Through many staffing challenges, she willingly puts aside her "manager hat" to work side by side with her staff to ensure quality care is delivered to each of the patients treated in the center while supporting her nursing staff and physicians. Most recently, she has been down over 50% of her budgeted staff but continues to lead the charge within the infusion room, while simultaneously precepting a new staff member and completing all her regular duties (interviewing/payroll, etc.). Most recently, these were all completed during the 5 days the AC unit was out at the center and staff worked in 78 degree heat. None the less, Shannan maintained a positive attitude for her staff and patients, demonstrating quality leadership skills.
