Shannel Kane is a new graduate who came to SPUH through the externship program. She was identified during her hospital orientation as a young nurse who is a "great catch". Shannel has proven to be a "great catch" as she was described during hospital orientation. She is energetic, and a great team player who has been mentioned by patients on Press Ganey Surveys every month since she was hired on the Oncology Unit. She frequently volunteers her time to help the unit whenever possible and has requested to be placed on committees. She has revived the birthday club on her unit. Patients mention her constantly on daily patient rounds.
Shannel has also surprised her coworkers this past October when she attended skills day. She was so impressed by the valuable information presented at skills day that she took pictures of the poster boards and she is in the process of putting the pictures together for future reference for herself and the entire staff.
Shannel is an asset to her unit, her peers, and all her patients.
