I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate Shannon’s care. She’s an amazing nurse and now an amazing friend.
I’ve had the pleasure of having Shannon as my nurse more than once through the deliveries of my last two sons. Shannon was assigned to care for me after the loss of my son in 2021 when I was 28 weeks pregnant. She was my night shift nurse during my stay and, at the time, was training a student nurse. Shannon made all the difference in my short time spent at the hospital after our loss. I will never forget that she somehow made me laugh during her shift when she was checking on me overnight. I can’t say I remember what was said that made me laugh, but I will always remember thinking, “I can still laugh even through all this.” She made me feel normal when my whole world was turned upside down.
When I became pregnant earlier this year, I knew I wanted to deliver again at Flower after the amazing care I received in the past. Luckily, Shannon was still there working on the labor and delivery unit. Due to my previous loss, I required extensive monitoring, including weekly ultrasounds, office visits, and NSTs. Shannon was assigned to me again for most of these visits, and I was so thankful. She also cared for me the day my son was born and the days after as well. I couldn’t have been more relieved to see her face when I arrived at the unit that day. Since she knew my history of loss, she knew exactly how to care for me and gave me such grace and compassion. She assured me through the entire process and made me and my husband feel so comforted. Through the admission process, c-section, and postpartum care, I had no doubt that myself and my baby were well taken care of. As you can tell, I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate Shannon’s care. She’s an amazing nurse and now an amazing friend.
