These two nurses are the epitome of kind, compassionate and patient nurses. I have worked with them for almost 20 years and they are so very consistent in their level of care. I have seen their beliefs put to work, praying over patients and our staff. I can not imagine one winning this award without the other. They are a team, "sisters", of good old fashioned hands-on nurses, of Christian people who care. There is often laughter coming from their rooms, their patients love seeing them again. "Oh boy, I got you again!" is often heard as they prepare their patients for surgery. Time is spent teaching and listening. Many patients ask for these two for their next procedure.
On the other side of hospital nursing, they volunteer a week of their time, talent and money to go to Nicaragua serving on the GYN mission team with Dr W. They help collect supplies to send over all year long, cleaning, rewrapping, sterilization and packaging-and then taking them to the Amigos for Christ HQ. One nurse is responsible for initiating the change at the Gwinnett County Emergency services from Latex to Nitrile gloves as she herself is very allergic to Latex. The other is instrumental in setting up Women's conferences or the Christmas Tea at her church each year. They are both so well rounded, strong, advocating, caring nurses and I can think of no other who deserve this award more!
