My 72-year-old husband was brought in to the ED unresponsive in Septic Shock. Sharon was his nurse with practically no blood pressure and a fever. Sharon went into action. IVs were started, fluids pushed to get the blood pressure up, and medications given for fever. Many tests were done and Dr. orders carried out under Sharon's watchful eye. She talked to us as everything was being done giving me a quick hug when I needed it. When we were not comfortable with a Dr.'s decision on a procedure she went into a patient advocate role involving nursing supervision and head of the department. A better plan was made because of her caring compassion and advocacy. She managed my husband's care until we could get him to ICU. Sharon is a DAISY Nurse because of her nursing skills, knowledge, and overall love of the job. The degree of comfort we felt having her take care of our family member in such a trying time cannot be described. She is a DAISY to us.
