I later found out from his NICU nurses that while they were trying to start an IV on him, Shelby was at his bedside talking and comforting him. That warmed my heart.
At about 35 weeks pregnant, I went into labor and delivery because I was in a lot of pain. Shelby happened to be my nurse that day. With this being my first pregnancy, I was so afraid of going into labor early. She made me feel safe. It wasn't baby time yet, and I was sent home. I remember thinking, "I really hope Shelby is my nurse when I go into labor."

About five days later, at exactly 36 weeks, my baby boy decided he was ready to meet the world. I remember it was time to meet my day shift nurse, and Shelby walked through the door. God heard my prayers that day. Seeing her, I knew that me and my baby boy were going to be safe and well taken care of. After having my boy, he had to be immediately transported to the NICU. When I was transferred to the postpartum unit, I was so upset that I couldn't have him with me. Shelby made it a point to come check on me and see how I was doing. She even went over to the NICU to see him.

I later found out from his NICU nurses that while they were trying to start an IV on him, Shelby was at his bedside talking and comforting him. That warmed my heart. I'll always remember her, and I hope in the future, when I decide to have more babies, that I'll be blessed enough to have her take care of me again. What an extraordinary person, nurse, and employee y'all have chosen.
