Shelby was the kindest, most compassionate person I have ever met!
My grandfather has been admitted on and off to Audubon over the past year. Sadly, he passed away last night. The care he received this time around and the entire nursing staff was excellent. But one nurse stood out above the rest.
Shelby was the kindest, most compassionate person I have ever met! I felt like she took his loss almost as personally as we did. She said how very sorry she was for our loss every single time she spoke to us and said it was her pleasure to care for him. I truly think she meant it!
Lastly, my grandmother and uncle were struggling to leave. I didn’t realize it immediately, but they intended on staying until my grandpa was ready to be picked up. I have never experienced anything like this, so once I knew their intentions, I asked this nurse for a timeline. It was at this point that she sweetly and gently explained that end-of-life care and transportation arrangements would not happen until all the family had left. But she stressed the fact that there was no rush. We stayed close to 5 hours after his passing, and she was a saint right up until the end. She was a bright light during a very dark time, and we could not thank her enough.
