Shelley King is a kind and compassionate nurse. She loves nursing and it can be seen with each nursing intervention that she delivers. She takes the time with the nursing students that come to Riverside for a clinical experience. Shelley has told me that it is important to teach her students from the start, the correct way to do things. Students have written in their journals about Shelley. One, in particular, wrote about Shelley's way of passing medication and how she "cannot wait to implement this methodical med pass technique in my nursing career." She notes that she has "never seen a nurse pass meds like Shelley." Shelley is thorough and takes the time to explain each medication to every patient, every time and she does it with a positive attitude. Another student writes how positive and therapeutic Shelley was to each client.
Shelley is molding the future of our nurses here at Trinity. She ensures they leave their clinical experience with a positive outlook, as well as the techniques and nursing interventions necessary to be successful in their nursing careers. Her dedication and patient advocacy are apparent and contagious not only to her team members but also to the nursing students.
