I recently was at Baptist Health Little Rock when my daughter was born and had a 5-day stay in the NICU while I was kept in postpartum for hypertension. I want to thank my nurse, Shemiah, who goes by "Miah". She was SO kind, patient, and helpful as my husband and I journeyed through all of the emotions that postpartum and our daughter being in NICU brought upon us. She helped me figure out how to pump, which was so incredible because I felt like it was the only thing I could do to help my daughter. She literally cheered me on when I pumped or hand-expressed even the smallest amount of colostrum and milk! It was wonderful to have her support that I was doing the best I could! She also cleaned all my pump supplies (multiple times!) since I was completely exhausted and mostly bedridden and couldn't do so. She listened and chatted with my husband and me, which helped us feel like "normal" people while we were in the hospital and couldn't see any family/friends due to COVID-19. She went above and beyond by being so friendly and kind to us. We always asked if she was coming back for the next shift so we could have her again! She was truly a God-send to us during this challenging time in our lives. Her kindness and friendliness are things I will never forget! She was a light for us during this dark and challenging time.
