To single out one nurse is difficult since all the nurses in the unit/ department were all exemplary. They were a big help in my recuperation and teaching me and my husband the ropes on how to care for a newborn. My speedy recovery is attributed to their knowledge and expertise. I’ve felt minimal pain in all the IV medicines and suppositories the nurses administered and they are all patient enough to explain to me what the medicines are for.

I was told that one of my medicines will still need me administered after my discharge. The nurse was patient in teaching my husband how to do it and she explained how important the medication is to avoid dangerous blood cells that could be risky for women who undergo Cesarean Operations. They were also patient in helping and teaching me how to breastfeed my new baby. They taught me some tips and tricks on how to encourage my baby to latch and suck. They told me to talk to my baby, to sing her lullabies, to hold her hand, and to encourage her that she is doing a good job in trying.

They were all my very accommodating and quick in their responses when we call them. They were also knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. One of the nurses even showed my mother how to give a bath to a newborn and she said that she was an expert and explained to new that before a bath, all the things that the baby will need must already be prepared a within reach and the air conditioner must be switched off so baby will not be cold. Whenever they hear my baby cry, they will come and check even if we did not call for assistance. They were very reassuring and keep on telling us that everything is normal and that our baby is fine, which is what all first-time parents need to hear. They were checking my vital signs around the clock and before my drip finishes or any medication. They will change it immediately. They were very attentive to every little detail.

For example, our baby’s bonnet is a bit big, they put surgical tape on it to make it a bit small and stay on my baby’s head. Every shift rotation, they were meticulous and told the next shift all the details with regard to my care. Even if what we need is from Housekeeping, they will surely ask or follow up on our behalf. One nurse taught my husband how to clean my wound and she properly explained everything. She even said that my wound must only be cleaned and wiped in one direction only to avoid the removed dirt from getting into the wound again. She reiterated every point and explained why we should not forget the steps and how important they are in keeping my wound clean and keeping it from being infected. Every time they will come to check up on me and my baby. They were all wearing face masks, and gloves and sanitizing their hands before they do any procedures giving us a sense of security. I have been a patient of Prime Healthcare Center before in reef mall and Burjuman and specifically chose Prime Hospital Garhoud for my delivery because I know I will be taken good care of here.
