Sheri was a Godsend for me and my family. My daughter was in labor that day. All was proceeding well during the morning, but the situation took a turn for the worse in the afternoon and things began to feel precarious. We had the doctor, nurse, my husband, myself, and the baby's father in the room. We all were coaching and supporting my daughter, but also starting to realize that we may be in trouble.
Sheri popped into the room to check in with the nurse prior to leaving for the day. After just a few minutes, she came to my side to assist. Sheri said she was staying to help us. She was strong, supportive, and encouraging with my daughter. She helped tremendously to facilitate the transition to now going for an emergency C-section. I was so impressed with Sheri's willingness to go above and beyond, reflective of her true, caring heart. Later, Sheri said she knew from one look at my face that I was scared. She chose to stay long past her shift to help us through; she did not hesitate.
Sheri demonstrated a commitment to excellence, made a special connection with me, put the patient first, and successfully advocated for my daughter. Being a nurse myself, I have high standards and she exceeded those. Sheri made a significant and heartfelt difference for both the patient and the family.
