She inspired me right then and there. As new parents, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed, stressed, and new to everything, but her saying that was impactful.
Sherri was our nurse for our newborn. We are first-time parents and are totally new to this. Sherri was so compassionate, knowledgeable, and supportive. She was like a guardian angel to us. To us, we can tell this is not just a job to her, and she truly cares and is an educator. She validated us and heard any questions or concerns even if they sounded a bit silly, she made us feel comfortable.
The best part was that she was able to help calm our baby down so beautifully. When we asked, “How did you do that?” She said, “It’s a vibe!” Which has stuck with me and something I will always keep in the back of my mind. She inspired me right then and there. As new parents, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed, stressed, and new to everything, but her saying that was impactful. Along with those words, she broke down the meaning by basically stating how we come across our babies can sense and feel, and she even said to the baby, “I got you.” That statement couldn’t be any more real and is a good reminder during overwhelming times. It’s soothing for the baby and us as parents to remember. At one point, the baby was crying. I found myself telling myself, “It’s a vibe,” and “I got you,” and it helped! She also took the time to teach us and relate with us. If I could have Sherri on my shoulder, I would.
Not only do we feel this hospital is blessed to have her, but we are very blessed that out of all families, we were the ones who were gifted with her. We ran into a lot of great nurses here, but Sherri created a moment that I will take with me forever when times may get hard.
