Sherrie was dropped off by her husband to come coach and huddle and lead University's nurse residency. The son of a "fallen out" patient screamed for help because the patient had fallen/collapsed in the automatic doorway. The son said the patient had 2 heart attacks and was short of breath and they were trying to get to the ED. Sherrie dropped her belongings and felt for a pulse. There was no pulse, she screamed for help for someone to get the ED and started CPR efforts on her own. The ED responded and the patient was taken to the ED with CPR going.
I want to recognize Sherrie for stepping up and helping a patient and family when everyone else walked on, walked out, or disregarded an arresting patient who was dying.
