I would like to give a very special thank you to one of your nurses. I feel that she went far and beyond her duties. She helped me through a very difficult and emotional trial I had to face (up to that point alone). If it wasn't for her, I don't think I would have found the courage to do the right thing. My day started at 9 am in the neurosurgery clinic, with what I had mistakenly assumed would be a quick follow-up visit. By the time I met Sherry, it was after 7 pm. I had been placed in a large treatment room where nothing worked. There were problems with the medications, orders, tests, etc. I had only been given one pain pill all day, I'd broken my phone and couldn't remember my children's phone numbers, and I wanted to contact them to let them know what was going on. I was in so much pain and emotionally overwhelmed, I planned to just leave. When I was transferred upstairs and Sherry walked into the room, she took in the whole chaotic scene and handled it immediately. She calmed me down and actually listened to me and what I needed. She got all of my correct pain medications from the pharmacy and administered them immediately. She assured me that she would even set up a 3-way call with my children, using her own phone if she had to. Within 45 minutes of meeting Sherry and having her take over, I was in a new clean room with a private working phone. She found my children's phone numbers from old records and had a hot tray of food delivered from the cafeteria. She kept checking on me the next 2 days she was here to see if I had any further questions or needs. I am so thankful she was here that day and prevented me from leaving when I needed to be here. Thank you, Sherry.
