Shonda has gone out of her way to help me witha personal problem due to my unexpected stay in St. Mary's. On her own time, she volunteered to retrieve my mail and newspapers accumulating at my house. She also retrieved a prescription which was in my mailbox and should not freeze. She helped put me at ease while we were not able to contact my family. This was very comforting for me. She is kind and gentle in her nursing care and showed me respect.

My father was admitted from ED. He suffers from vascular dementia and had been given a prognosis of days to weeks of life. In the 3-4 days Shonda was the charge nurse, she helped care for our family with continued updates and went beyond to connect us with the doctors, care managers, and hospice care personnel to coordinate the needs for our father. Her continued compassion and gentle handling of my father meant so much to us. Her charge nurse command is evident that she takes her duties seriously and her co-workers respect her in their actions working as a team. It is her leadership that is showing us and this unit that she is a dedicated, hardworking, compassionate, and responsible nurse who symbolizes the mission of St Mary's. Thank you, Shonda, for the respect shown to our family during our time of sad, broken hearts.

Shonda did an amazing job with my dying mother. Unfortunately, our family was not able to be with her in her final hours. Shonda did everything she could to keep my mother comfortable and cared for. She arranged for someone to be with her 24 hours a day. She held the phone to her ear so that I and other family members could talk to her. Every time I called, Shonda patiently addressed all my concerns and never once did she come across as anything but caring. I was so thankful that Shonda could be there for my mother and family. Many thanks to Shonda and to St. Mary's for the service they provide to the community.
