I was recently a patient in the CCU at Cedar Park Regional. All the staff I had contact with was great, very helpful, and accommodating. I was so touched by the care I received from one nurse, in particular, her name is Sindhu. She was on when I came out of surgery and then back on the next day. Everything about the way she interacted with me as a patient, as well as my family and friends, showed her dedication to the calling of nursing. She seems to be a happy, caring, and loving person and that shows in how she conducts herself.
Sindhu took the time to explain everything to me and my family - what the meds were and how I'd react to them, how to care for myself once I got home, what to expect with everything she was doing regarding my care. When she would come into the room, she was always smiling and offered to take care of not just my needs but those of my sister and mom. Even just the little things, like offering to get coffee for my mom and sister, really were kind gestures. I can also say, her care for me was a comfort to my family. Knowing that I was being looked after by someone who had a genuine interest in my comfort and well-being had an obvious relaxing effect on them as they were pretty uptight.
I have always said that angels walk amongst us in the form of those people that choose to be nurses. Sindhu just reinforced that belief for me. Thanks to everyone at Cedar Park Regional for taking such good care of me, but many special thanks to Sindhu who went out of her way to make me as comfortable as she could. She probably treats every case with that same grace and gentle bedside manner. I'm pretty sure it's just her way.
