Her keen powers of observation and ability to asses a situation were invaluable to this family.
There are so many examples of how Siobhan has gone above and beyond for her patients, co-workers, and the community. One example happened in April and involved a child who was newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on the pediatric unit. Siobhan received a call on her cell phone on a Saturday (usually her day off) but she was involved in the first Spanish Diabetes Group class and was set to teach from 3pm-5pm. The pediatric team asked her to help with the child and family because they were overwhelmed. Siobhan taught the 2 1/2 hour class and then went to the hospital at 6 pm. She spent at least 2 1/2 hours with the child and parents. The parents were overwhelmed and needed much support. Siobhan realized they were not prepared for discharge and volunteered to return on Sunday to spend several more hours making sure parents and child had all the supplies needed for home care, knew how to give insulin, how to check blood sugar, and exactly how to handle the first few days at home. Her keen powers of observation and ability to asses a situation were invaluable to this family. The parents expressed appreciation for how much time she spent making sure they could take their child home safely.

Siobhan has demonstrated her care for her co-workers by donating 2 weeks of her PDO times. Each person had to be on FLMA and did not have enough PDO to cover the time off. She willingly and joyfully gave her PDO so that her teammates would not go without pay during extreme times of stress. She also shows care for her profession, volunteering her time to the Palm Health Care Foundation, to review 26 applications for awards on her own time.

Community service is also a passion and she is involved with Healthier Jupiter by serving on committees and attending events. She served as a volunteer coach for the coach to 5 K program and presented a class about healthy lifestyles for the team. In addition, she volunteers for the local food banks and assists with Fresh RX pick-ups. Her fluency in Spanish is a great asset to the program and participants during pick-up on Sundays when she also volunteers her time. She truly has a servant's heart and I am blessed to work with her.
