Sonia is the most caring nurse I have ever seen. She is always happy and always providing great care, giving 100% of her time. There was a veteran on our unit who was depressed and she bought him Starbucks to cheer him up. She always volunteers to take patients who need more from our nurses when others lack the time. She keeps a positive outlook at all times. If we are short on the next shift she volunteers to stay. She volunteers to be in charge. She is a true patient advocate, great nurse, and great co-worker. Her smile and good attitude cheer up our patients and our unit. She wheels her patients outside for fresh air to give them a break from the closed in ICU.
The ICU had a patient who was actively dying of cancer. He had been very depressed as he is a newlywed. He and his wife have been married for one year. Upon hearing it was the patient's one-year anniversary, Sonia went and bought an anniversary card and had the whole unit sign it and gave it to the patient and his wife. It brought a big smile to the patient. She a DAISY Nurse through and through.
