Sonya persevered through Covid and has used that experience to make herself stronger. Her nursing and clinical skills are great. It is her people skills that set her apart.
I broke my leg and ended up on unit 3500. Sonya was one of my RNs. What a beautiful spirit and a great Nurse!! I have been an RN for 35 years. I was not in a hospital setting during Covid. Some of the experiences Sonja shared were heart-wrenching, and this young RN continued to persevere through all of them and grow her nursing skills. She is an impeccable RN. Anytime I had a question she was there with the answer. She spent time making sure my IV site was good, especially since I was getting IV Toradol. This seems like a no-brainer; however, you would be surprised by how many times that can be overlooked. She checked my pedal pulses, my medical wristband, etc., as she took care of me. Sonja shared some of her Covid experiences. She could have hung up her “hat,” but instead, she has used those experiences to maintain her humanity and remember that her patients are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, etc. It has made her an RN who will be invaluable in the years to come. It is important to me that she be honored and acknowledged for her RN skills. She accomplished something in her short years as an RN that I don’t know if I would be able to do, meaning going through the "wartime" of being an RN during Covid and coming out the other side. Sonya persevered through Covid and has used that experience to make herself stronger. Her nursing and clinical skills are great. It is her people skills that set her apart. She has good listening skills and was able to be patient and communicate well. It is important to recognize this skill as it is often overlooked. Thank you for hiring and nurturing this young nurse who will be an asset for years to come.
