Stacey is a skilled and knowledgeable nurse who can take on any nursing role in the emergency department. She transitions between PFC, trauma, and triage as well as regular ED rooms with ease.
We recently had a multiple patient trauma present to the ED. We received three out of the six victims of a MVC. The victims' vehicle went off a 400-foot ravine and they were unable to get help for hours after the incident. Two of the victims were DOA and one was flown to Portland; however, all the parents of the young people were sent to our ED. The parents of the deceased patients were given a death notification in the ED chapel, without the presence of a Chaplain. After stabilizing her trauma patient, Stacey used her break to locate an off duty Chaplain to come to comfort the families and stayed with the families while they waited for the Chaplain to arrive.
Stacey's trauma patient was upset and wanting to check on his friends so, once he was stable and all his scans were negative, Stacey took him to check on his friends so he could see for himself that they were safe.
This is just one example of Stacey going out of her way for patients. I have seen her track down family members of our John Does like a veteran detective. She is always looking out for her co-workers as well, making sure we have our breaks and bringing us coffee. She is a pleasure to work with and an asset to Salem ED.
