Stacy works in the PICU and comes from a Mennonite background, which allows her to speak Low German. One day, a family with a very sick young baby girl found themselves in a deeply challenging and emotional situation, and they needed someone to translate so they could fully understand the seriousness of their child's condition. Even though she was already scheduled for her night shift, she chose to come in early at 10am to be there for the family. She stayed until 2pm translating for them and ensuring they understood every detail of their baby's care. Her selflessness and dedication went far beyond her duty. Stacy didn't just provide a translation, she gave the family comfort, clarity, and the assurance they needed during an incredibly difficult time. Her actions are a perfect example of the compassion, commitment, and empathy that the DAISY Award honors. Stacy is an Extraordinary Nurse who always goes the extra mile to ensure her patients and their families feel heard, care for, and supported. She truly exemplifies what it means to be a compassionate and exceptional nurse, and I am so grateful for the incredible care she provides to every patient and family she encounters
