...M had some extraordinary nurses caring for her. One in particular though was a true angel. Her name is Steph. The minute she introduced herself it's like a sense of relief filled the room. She worked the night shift so there was never really a whole lot of conversation, but both M and I felt like she was somebody we knew our whole life. She is a very kindhearted, calm, compassionate, caring person, everything you would want in somebody who is taking care of you or a loved one. These are not skills a person learns, these are gifts from God, and not everybody has them.

M was in pretty bad shape with pneumonia in both lungs. She was in a lot of pain, agitated and was scared and we were very worried things were not going to go well. But Steph's presence was enough to ease our pain and worrying. I was at M's bedside most of the time and if she needed something I would jump up and get it for her, only calling the nurse if I needed help. I didn't want to bother the nurses as I knew they were busy, very busy. One time Steph was in the room checking on M's IVs and I jumped up out of the chair to help M with something and I heard Steph whisper to M with a smile on her face, "Tell him to settle down, I've got this." After that I knew she was in good hands, and I was able to go home and get some much needed sleep.

We pray that Steph receives all the blessings and success that she deserves, and thank her from the bottom of our hearts for the care she gave M during this recent battle. It is our honor to be able to nominate her for the DAISY Award.
