As a leader, Steph’s top priority is the happiness and growth of her employees. I approached Steph about a year ago about feeling stuck in my career and wanting to take the next step. She helped me get involved with hospital-wide committees and encouraged me to take on more responsibilities within the organization. She made sure I felt supported both as an ED nurse and as a person. When I told her I had accepted a new position, she was thrilled for me and never once made me feel like I was deserting the department. She celebrates all of life’s victories with us and makes everyone feel seen and heard. She’s tough but fair, demands your best at all times, and picks you up if you fall. She never hesitates to jump in and help with patient care, and it’s nice to have a leader not afraid to get her hands dirty. I hope to be the nurse and leader Steph is one day. I would not be where I am without her.
