I have many situations where this nurse has gone above and beyond. Need help with any patient care? She will find time during her own stressful assignment to act as comfort for my patients and assist in helping them get through procedures such as blood work, IV insertion, and straight caths. Most recently, I had a patient status post hip surgery who was retaining urine. Stephanie was able to assist me with removing the urine while walking my patient through every step of what she was doing. With family present as well, Stephanie was able to perform the task while comforting my patient and keeping the family calm while this all went on. It was truly incredible to see that she was able to navigate this task all while keeping the patient in mind the entire time. My patient thanked us and remarked that she felt as if we were her own family taking care of her, a true testament to how connected nurses are to their patients and the difference it makes when a strong nurse can navigate complex tasks while maintaining patient comfort and dignity.
