I was working in the Emergency Department and I witnessed something really amazing. Steve had a female patient in a room for our entire shift. Accompanying this patient were 2 young boys, maybe around 6 or 7 years old, and they were in our department the entire time.We were attempting to get relatives in to take the boys, but the mother does not have many locally in the area.
When the patient had to go to Ultrasound, the boys were not allowed to go with her.Without telling anyone, Steve decided to take the boys with him on his lunch break. He bought them food and then took them outside to play Frisbee in the courtyard.
When the rest of the Emergency Department staff realized what he had done, we were so touched by this compassionate act.Steve might be very mad at me for telling this story, but he does stuff like this all the time. We thought he deserved hugs for it too, but apparently Steve doesn't do hugs!
