He is one of those people that you encounter that you are left feeling impacted by in a good way!
I wanted to nominate Steven who was my surgery nurse during my procedure. He came in initially with a warm and positive vibe and went over my information. He then proceeded to get to know me and my husband. Both have military backgrounds, so they shared their experiences. I told Steven that I was feeling a bit nervous going in as I have never been a medically friendly person, as it makes me VERY queasy. Steven stated that there wasn't anything to worry about as he would be next to me talking the whole time.
When it was time to go back, he joked around with me and asked some more things about me that we could talk about during the procedure. He told me to "Keep my hands and feet in the ride at all times," which I found really funny. He was VERY nurturing and calm, which really helped me settle in once the procedure started. He talked me through things and made me laugh, which helped me feel better. There were some painful shots administered, and I started crying in which he told me everything was going to be okay and offered to hold my hand. Again, he told me to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth and it helped work through the pain. We started talking again, which aided me in not thinking about what the doctor was doing.
I have never experienced such a welcoming and calm nurse, and that is saying a lot, as I have spent a decent amount of time with hospitals. I am a cancer survivor, so I've been around the medical block a few times. Steven is SUCH an asset to your company and he really stands out as someone who truly cares about people and is there for them. His positive attitude and ability to help others are contagious, and I left there really grateful that I had him by my side during my experience. He is one of those people that you encounter that you are left feeling impacted by in a good way! My husband is a nurse and he stated that if anyone should receive the award, it is definitely Steven! Just wanted to let you know how lucky you are to have someone like him on your staff!
