Sue is an amazing nurse. Her bedside manner, knowledge and expertise are off the charts. We have children who come in on a regular basis to have infusions. Some of them are very hard IV starts. We have children schedule their infusions according to Sue's schedule. The children, doctors, and peers have such confidence in Sue and her abilities, when she walks in the room whether it be Peds, Same-Day Surgery, OR, MRI the comment is "OH GOOD, Sue is here!" She always greets patients and families with a smile and her presence helps to relieve their anxiety. She always has a funny story to tell and is able to relate that story to the child's likes because she listens to them and has gotten to know them over time.
She is very busy through the hospital but she can always make time to be pleasant, even when her phone is blowing up. She really does decrease the anxiety in the children, families, nurses and even the doctors. She is great at her job but her personality shines. To see the relief in a child's face when she walks in the room is priceless.
I appreciate how she helps the children here at St. Vincent. She definitely helps make my job/role so much easier. She rocks it!
