From a young nurse working in a small coordinator office, Ms. Abduljawad wanted to do things differently, she wanted more. Her passion and drive for bedside nursing were overwhelming and that led her to shift her focus to direct care. This young nurse started reconnecting with her passion and flourished beyond expectations and, in just 2 years, she continued to grow, with excellent decision making, being a role model among her colleagues, leading with love and compassion for the profession. With her exceptional leadership, the unit achieved the highest satisfaction rate among Registered Nurses as well as the patient’s choice award for the best unit. Ms. Abduljawad had the highest 360 degree performance appraisal score among all managers. Ms. Abduljawad appreciates the value of teamwork and being present for her team at exceptional times. One of her nurses never forgot the day when Ms. Abduljawad came to the unit on her day off, which was also her birthday, to cover for a nurse who wanted to be with her friends on the New Year holiday. This act of altruism testifies to the exceptional leadership qualities that Ms. Abduljawad upholds.
