Susan is an outstanding person, nurse and advocate for healthcare and comfort at Bronson. She went above and beyond in her care for my father during his recent stay at Bronson until the time of his death. She treated him with dignity, compassion, humor, and as a living being, not as a dying patient. She never once entered the room or performed any medical procedure on him without addressing him by name and speaking to him while she was caring for him, even when he was no longer able to respond. She never once focused on us first and ignored him, she focused on ALL of us as a family unit and placed my father at the top.
Susan was a huge comfort to us and a caregiver to us all. She made sure that we had anything and everything that we needed, from water, juice, and snacks, to blankets and pillows. She also took all the time we needed, to explain what was happening as my father’s life was ending and after we said our final goodbye, she let us know in her gentle way that she would be there with my father, and stayed beyond the end of her scheduled shift.
Susan has a true gift and shows her skill, knowledge and education with the utmost of compassion.
