After teaching the CPI with Susan, I can say that she is above and beyond what an instructor is. I’ve taught around many people for the past 30-plus years, but none of them compares to her dedication to that program. She has gone to observe and watch others teach, and she took the time at home to repeatedly learn the advanced skills so she could demonstrate them with precision. I’ve heard feedback from the classes we have taught together about how great it is compared to what they have become accustomed to in the past. Enthusiasm and participation happen, which is paramount to a great classroom atmosphere. She is an instructor to emulate, and the dedication to her craft is second to none. If this award is about striving for excellence, then this is a great example of how a nurse does so.
