When I arrived here, I was beyond afraid, and still am. The doctors informed me that I would be here for six weeks to cure an infection in my spine. So along with the fear, I am dealing with a lot of pain and procedures.
When Nurse Sydney Kelly came in, she immediately brightened the room and put both myself and my husband at ease. Her kind, confident disposition is so calming and is a beacon of hope for us. She always has a smile on her face, even when going out of her way to help me or another patient. The entire staff that I've encountered in this unit is awesome, but Sydney truly stands out! She overheard me saying that I really wish I had some of my essential oils here for several reasons. Thirty minutes later, she surprised me with three tubes containing aromatherapy oils, two of which were for reasons she must have sensed I needed because I hadn't specified! I was so touched and amazed by this!
Sydney has also hunted down a heating pad for me that I had only mentioned in passing once. Along with the everyday caring, sweet things she does that set her apart, her knowledge and professionalism are a true credit to this hospital. I believe she should be recognized for all that she does. She is very humble about all she does and says, so I would love to see her exalted!
