Sylwia Gabryel is one of the nurses that I am always happy to be working with. She is conscientious, kind and an excellent team player and communicator. She recently cared for the husband of a woman who was the chief nursing officer at a sister hospital. He was so grateful for her compassion and caring that he wrote the following letter to Trish O'Keefe.

"...I was a patient after having a partial knee replacement surgery performed by Dr. B. I wish to highly commend the performance and attitude of a special nurse, Ms. Sylwia Gabryel who attended me during this time.

Unfortunately for me, I've experienced several surgeries and had many nurses attend me throughout my various hospital experiences. Yet with none of these stays have I been cared for by a more competent and compassionate professional than Ms. Gabryel. Even more remarkable was the degree of empathy Ms. Gabryel afforded me throughout my time at MMC.

Ms. Gabryel not only performed her duties efficiently and responsibly, but took it upon herself to continually check on my progress at every opportunity. She appeared to suffer with me when I experienced the discomfort and pain associated with my recuperation. She made it a point to check on me as soon as she arrived for her shift and again when she was leaving as well as throughout the day.

Ms. Gabryel made me feel as though I was a member of her family; that there wasn't anything she wouldn't do to make me more comfortable and help hasten my recovery. She was instrumental in all her successful efforts".
