My fiancé underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery while being up north, in a town and medical system we were unfamiliar with. A first impression is everything, and Tammy Baker excelled in this. The fear of the unknown, the fear of what life will be like once/if we get out of the ICU and or hospital. The struggles and lifestyle changes will have to be made once we hit the hospital exit. Tammy was there every step of the way, showing compassion and understanding and validating any and all emotions. She always went the extra mile to ensure my fiancé and I were comfortable. She took time from her busy schedule to explain everything to us, and we never felt like a burden or rushed. Once the chest tubes were removed and my fiancé was able to get up, a task that seems so easy was so incredibly hard for him: using the bathroom. Tammy helped and assisted in washing him up and ensuring he got back to bed safely and comfortably. She took him on walks despite all the tubes he was connected to and how short-staffed the healthcare system is. Her skills, knowledge, compassion, understanding, and devotion do not go unnoticed. She advocated for him and our family throughout our stay. She is an incredible person inside and out, and for that, she makes an extraordinary RN and is a prime example of an outstanding healthcare worker.
