Tammy Lett is a tried-and-true nursing leader and deserves the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. As the interim CNE, she had large shoes to fill and limited knowledge of nursing services at St. Luke’s.  Despite these challenges, Tammy has not only kept our ship afloat but helped to excel the nursing practice in her short time with us. She works tirelessly to ensure all nurses are supported and able to focus on the most important part of their job: caring for patients. By keeping patients at the forefront of all she does, Tammy has truly made a difference in the way we think about nursing leadership ourselves. 

Tammy took on this role at a point where there was a significant transition occurring in the nursing structure of St. Luke’s, and no one was exactly sure which direction we would head. She has been fully committed to improving the outlook for our nurses and creating opportunities to meet with staff and hear their feedback about nursing at St. Luke’s by rounding on the divisions and facilitating open forums to talk and, more importantly, to listen to their concerns and experiences. 

Despite her interim title, Tammy has fully immersed herself as the leader of the St. Luke’s nursing department. Tammy is thoughtful and kind, never missing an opportunity to thank her team and point out that the work we do matters. She has encouraged all of us to think outside the box and to be proactive in what we are doing and are hoping to do for St. Luke’s, our staff, and our patients. 

Thank you, Tammy, for being an inspirational nurse leader and role model for all of nursing leadership. You are incredible and exemplify what we want to accomplish within St. Luke’s. You have made so many meaningful contributions and changes during your time in the Interim CNE role, and for that, we will always be grateful.
